We go to Stillwells for Dinner every time we go to Big Bear and have always had a great experience. We have tried every almost every fish and chicken dish on the menu. The food is always great. The lobster eggrolls are fantastic The cream of chicken soup had huge chunks of white meat chicken and was wonderful. The main dishes are just as good. The service is great. We have had Dave?? (I think) several times and he is very friendly and fun. The corkage fee is only $8..... What more can you ask for...

Lily (Bartender) was extremely busy, but still did an amazing job. Good food, but better service! Thank you Lily.

Big Bear - Evergreen International Restaurant
Reviewed By Elizabeth Arana

Melrose meets Main Street at Evergreen International
Situated on a hilltop along the Southern shoreline of Big Bear Lake, Evergreen International is the perfect equilibrium of small town charm and big city glamour. Evergreen's cozy, 'cabinesque' atmosphere provides the perfect ambiance in which to settle in for a quiet dinner with friends or a romantic meal for two. Thinking of popping the question? The lake view from the main dining room and the outdoor deck are breathtaking, as the natural beauty of the lake provides a stunning backdrop against which the most romantic of scenes could be acted out.

We plan special occasions on our trips to Big Bear at the Evergreen Restaurant. The food is fabulous; fresh fish, prime steaks and the vegetables are to die for. The owners Jerry and Emily are always gracious. We reccommend it often to others as well.

Speaking of things you've got to try, don't even THINK of visiting Evergreen without ordering the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. This was voted 'best appetizer' and rightfully so, what with it being unreasonably delicious and an absolute steal at $8.95 for six. My fiancee had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and thoroughly enjoyed it that evening AND the next, as Evergreen's generous portion sizes proved too much for even his big, Wisconsin appetite. I chose the Char Broiled Salmon and indeed it was so delightful that I was finally able to think of something other than my aching gluteus maximus after a day of learning to snowboard. When we ordered the hamburger for our little girl, we took the owner's suggestion to upgrade to Kobe beef. This was truly the best suggestion yet, as out came a hamburger so tender and juicy that even the most fickle four year-old was rendered excuse-less and devoured this masterpiece in its entirety.

La Bamba mexican restaurant -- Reviewed

A local secret. La Bamba is run by a small Mexican family. Just off the Village Drive, it is not necessarily easy to find, but the search is worth it. La Bamba makes fresh authentic Mexican food daily. Their prices are very reasonable: from $5.95 for dinner. The cuisine consists of traditional Mexican dishes that includes fresh seafood. Beer and mixed drinks are available. Three time Taste of Big Bear Award winner for the "Fresh Salsa" competition. Conveniently located on Bonanza Trail on the north side of the Northwoods Resort parking lot.

Cowboy Express Steak House -- reviewed

I tried to get to this restaurant the enitre trip but, as will happen when on a trip with others, sometimes you never get around to doing what you want to do. But, finally I got to go!

They claim to have Big Bear's finest Steaks, BBQ Ribs and Chicken but what I wanted was the Spuds! They claim to have the biggest ones there and I love potatoes!

They also have NTN Trivia Games, another thing that I love! They are those little computer boxes you can have at your table that let you play trivia while you eat. At the same time there are other people with little boxes on their table competing with you via questions posted up on TVs all over the room - too fun!

Finally, along with being a family restaurant, their bar seems to be the in place to go for fun. They take all major credit cards (including Discover and Am Ex) and they seem to invest a lot in marketing so you'll find their flyer all over the place. Look for it if you want a discount because, Sunday-Thursday, it will get you 10% off your meal or you can just have one of the nightly senior or kid's specials.
